Lucy – had to ‘hang up her keys’ just after she has passed her test.

Lucy – had to ‘hang up her keys’ just after she has passed her test.

Lucy – had to ‘hang up her keys’ just after she has passed her test.

Lucy’s story is just like Paul’s – only wanted the Provisional only rate that she had seen on-line.

When we spoke to her, she said she reckoned she’d pass her test within 5 months or so, so we tried to convince her that an annual policy would save her a significant amount of money.

She was adamant that she only wanted the Provisional rate.

Two months later, Lucy called to tell us she has passed her test.

Her premium was now £2954 for the year.

Lucy, like Paul, just couldn’t afford the increase premium and, like Paul, had to cancel her policy.

When we spoke to her a month later, Lucy advised that she couldn’t get insurance at a price she could afford so had taken her car off the road and was waiting until she could save enough money to pay for a new policy. She was gutted – she had been waiting to learn to drive for ages and was now just looking at her car, sitting on the drive, because she couldn’t afford insurance.

Had she taken out the annual policy from the start she would have saved a lot of money, would still be driving, gaining experience, and would be earning her NCD, towards her renewal.

Morale of the story – Don’t be a Lucy – learning to drive and passing your test is a once in a lifetime achievement, it’s freedom. If you think you will pass your test within the first 5 months of driving, make sure you can afford the increased rate if you haven’t taken advantage of our annual policy option from the start.
